Everything’s better with Glitter and Sparkles

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

New year, new shoppe.  I like my ArtKid etsy shoppe, but I really really wanted to try something new.  I’ve set up a new shoppe and will be trying a different style more close to my own personal tastes.  I’ll still have my ArtKid etsy, though.  Just figured I would attempt something more organized, haha!

16 RANDOM FACTS about YOURS TRULY.

Two of my friends on Facebook created this little 16 question survey and tagged a bunch of people.  I liked it so much that I did it even though I wasn’t tagged.  I figured what better way to open the new year and resurrect my “dusty old blog” than with something fun like this.   So without further ado, I present to you the 16 facts meme!

1) I absolutely, 100%, without a doubt believe in soulmates. There are many people with whom you can fall in love, but there is only one true soulmate for you. I believe that you find this person the absolute moment you stop looking for them. Stop looking and just spread goodness and beauty to the world around you. It is when you finally realise that life has funny ways of rewarding you for good things that you find that person. There is not just one lover or love for someone’s life, but there is only one soulmate. It is these lovers and “in loves” along our path in life that help our soul discover what it is looking for. Our soulmate is the best quality in each of our past lovers put together in one being. I believe in soulmates with all of my heart and don’t right care who finds me silly for doing so.

2) I believe in faeries. Yes. I really believe in faeries, truly. I think there is a lot in this world we do not yet understand. Often times we get lost in the daily shuffle and begin to believe we are the only people on this planet. Take time to relax, meditate, and enjoy the world outside around you and you might be surprised by what you see. I read books about faeries, collect faerie statues, have jewelry with faeries, a t-shirt with a fairy…etc. I just absolutely adore them!

3) I love animals! Okay, so that’s not fair. Fact 3 is something everyone who has ever met me knows within about 30 seconds, haha! I love animals BECAUSE I feel they’re very magical. I’ve never met an animal I haven’t liked (only one i didn’t LOVE was my father’s secretary’s dog, fred, who was just a rotten bastard, haha!) and I find something special in each one. Invite me over to a party or someone’s house and within 5 minutes I have searched out their pets and made myself a new buddy. I can’t help it! I’m really drawn to animals and perhaps that has something to do with a soul or spirit connection as well….who knows. All I know is I find such great joy in these tiny little creatures, and I wouldn’t trade my companionship with them for anything! I love each of the 8 birds, 3 rats, tons of fish and my mouse and chinchilla all equally. <3 I believe in fate. I believe there is still some choice in how you get to your decided path, but fate guides you to the ultimate end goals.

4) I am a firm believer that we did NOT land on the moon exactly when it was televised. I subscribe to the belief that there was no possible way to figure out the technology needed to get to the goal that quickly. I am not saying we have NEVER been to the moon, but we definitely didn’t get there as early as everyone thinks. Until I get to the moon myself to do comparison against what is on film, I will firmly stand by this belief. There’s just no way that kind of technology and equipment could have been invented in the 8 years between JFK’s pledge and the “actual” moon landing. Think about it.

5) I have bizarre allergies! If I eat key lime, my arms break out. If I eat, drink, or apply anything with the additive Propylene Glycol in it, my arms break out. And that’s a fun one because if you google it? It’s in EVERYTHING. :( If I eat shrimp or any kind of seacreature like mussels, clams, oysters, etc that come out of a shell (sans crab for some reason I can eat that) I vomit profusely within 20 minutes. This is particularly sad because I used to really love eating that stuff.

6) I’m actually quite shy, untrusting and introverted. Seriously! I can’t go places alone, and if I do I’m always worried someone’s out to get me. I don’t like huge groups or parties or loud places like bars. Strangely enough I do like places like concerts, museums, and New York City. I wouldn’t go to any of those places all by myself, that’d be really scary and awkward. I won’t usually talk to strangers. I most definitely won’t talk to someone I think I might run into again without observing them a few times first. I only tell my true feelings to my absolute closest friends. I’m terrified of being alone and always have to have someone or some thing near me. I’m still scared of staying home alone when my parents or family goes out. I know it seems weird considering I’m also many-a-time the absolutely loudest person in the room! If I am, it’s because I trust you. So consider that abrasive volume a really big compliment, haha!

7) I want to go to Africa. I want to work with animal conservationalists and zoologists to save the endangered animals. I want to go on a Safari. I want to take tons of photographs of my grand adventures. It is my ultimate goal to even face my fears of being alone and travel there all by myself! However, I’ll definitely take a travel companion if it’s offered.

8) When I take baths I put teabags in the bath water. Flavours and scents are according to my mood.

9) I believe in ghosts and wandering spirits. I have seen several, in fact. There is a small boy that wanders and lives in the house across the street’s top right front bedroom. There are ghosts that wander through the downstairs computer/bird room in my house. Particularly an old man who likes to talk about pickles and has a sheepdog companion. I rarely enter the kitchen or pass the living room doorway at night, and I never do so if people in my house are all asleep. I don’t want to see anyone downstairs that isn’t a member of this family! Also this kind of contributes to why I am still afraid of the dark. Very much so in fact. If I’m alone, in the dark, I’m going to cry.

10) I want to open and own my own cafe. I want to hold Acoustic nights and Battle of the Bands contests. I want it to be half cafe/hippie shop and half antiquebookstore/comic shop. I will sell local art from various artisans and craftsmen in the area. There will be knitting night thursdays, prayer circle sundays, and every wednesday will be “WAY OUT WEDNESDAY” where the staff dresses up all crazy. Tattoos, piercings, and dyed hair embraced, accepted, and encouraged for all staff members!

11) I would like to learn four languages: French, Italian, Japanese, and Afrikaans. I want to study art and literature in France and Italy. I want to visit the historical gardens, the bustling city of Tokyo and attend a traditional tea ceremony in Japan. Afrikaans fascinates me and the accents from Africa are really cool. I’ve never known anyone around here to speak it so it would almost be like speaking a code language!

12) My parents are my role models and I suppose in many cases, my heroes. They’re exemplary people in every way. I admire their strength in the face of adversity. I am proud that they are a part of my family. My parents are strong, brilliant, creative, funny people. They never discourage me from anything, even if it isn’t their first choice of a life path. No matter what I do they are right there beside me challenging me and cheering me on. My brother and I have put them through hell more times than I can count, haha. Still, they go right on loving the two of us! I want to be a parent and raise a family just like ours. I am so proud of my parents for everything they’ve accomplished. I know they might not feel like they’ve accomplished everything they wanted to with their lives so far, but I think they’re the greatest people in the world and that has to count for something!

13) I do not like feet at all! They are nauseating. I guess this stems from the fact that I have size 11 feet (which is seriously misproportionate to my 5′3″ stature.) I am the only person in my family with feet this big compared to my height. Nobody can figure out where the came from. So big, in fact, that when I was born they did not even fit on the inkpad for my birth certificate. They had to put one half of my foot and then the other on the inkpad to stamp them. Paris Hilton has size 11 feet, just in case you need that piece of trivia. I suppose also con to this statement is the fact that I hate wearing shoes and most times, socks. Yet I collect both, haha!

14) I have OCD. Like, legit kind of OCD, not the just “I’m saying it because” kind. I have got MUCH better, though! I cannot colour with crayons if they are not brand new. I used to only eat with one set of silverware (at home though, I didn’t have to take it places with me.) Hangers were colour coordinated, facing the same way, and the item of clothing had to match the hanger colour. If I made a mess, nobody else could clean up that mess. I even know where things are in my mess. Pulling into a parking space meant pulling in and backing out 5 or 6 times, at least. I washed my hair 4 times every time I showered. I couldn’t handwrite things like papers because I cannot cross out or use white out; if I make a mistake I had to rewrite everything I just wrote. Etc Etc Etc… I’ve really come a long way though! I can pull into spaces no problem, my hangers and clothes can go out of order, I can eat with two sets of silverware now, and I’m working on cleaning up my messy room. I still have other weird habits btu they’re not noticeable really. :) I’m very proud! I did it with the help of therapy and medication for a few years, and the rest is all my own hard work!

15) I am the world’s pickiest eater! I try most things at LEAST once, but it takes me quite awhile before working up the guts to tatse it. Oh, and I can’t stand meat, at all. Sometimes I’ll eat chicken fingers, but mostly I just really hate chewing meat. Also, I hate jello. Jello makes me nauseous.

16) I would like at least three children: one of my own and two adopted. If I’m lucky I’ll have more, because I like big families and absolutely adore kids.

I have been pretty busy as of late and have sorely neglected all ten thousand of my various blogs on many websites.  I have decided I will work hard at updating at least twice a month (small goals, big acheivements haha!)  It is the start of a brand new year and I feel that it calls for an exciting new bunch of inspiring arts.  Here’s to hoping that this new year provides new inspirations and creations! Welcome to 2009! Yay! *throws confetti*

Last year was very interesting.  I’m hoping it will have been the most uncomfortable year of my life, ever.  I don’t want to go through anything more frustrating than the whole of 2008.  From the ringing in of the New Year on January 1st to the last day on December 31st, it has been to date one of the toughest loads of crap I have ever dealt with.  My limits were tested as well as the bonds of my love, family, and friendship.  I can’t stand to think about the bullshit that I experienced whether it be directly or by mere association to a person or situation.  Ugh, it was draining!  I haven’t created anything in months and that makes my heart and soul hurt.  So I decided from January 1st 2009 I will be shedding that old year like nobody’s business and moving right along to the next new, big thing on my path in life.  I’m taking back control and never letting it go!  So here’s to bigger, better, more beautiful things in the new year!

GOALS V. RESOLUTION: *DING! DING! DING!* FIGHT!

res⋅o⋅lu⋅tion

[rez-uh-loo-shuhn]
–noun

1. a formal expression of opinion or intention made, usually after voting, by a formal organization, a legislature, a club, or other group. Compare concurrent resolution, joint resolution.
2. a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.
3. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.
4. the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.
5. the act or process of resolving or separating into constituent or elementary parts.
6. the resulting state.

A co-worker and friend of mine told me she did not make any New Years Resolutions this year.  Like 99% of the population in this world, neither she nor I are capable of sticking to resolutions.

Let’s face it, we all make resolutions we know we aren’t going to achieve: “QUIT SMOKING!”, “LOSE 30 POUNDS!”, “PAY OFF ALL MY DEBTS”, “GO TO THE GYM DAILY!”, “QUIT MY JOB AND FINALLY GO YACHTING DOWN THE EAST COAST!”, “EAT 3 SQUARE MEALS A DAY!”, ETC.  Aaaaaaand everyone starts the new year off with religiously going to the gym, applying those nicotine patches, and eating vegetables with every meal.  Then comes the day you sleep in and wind up late for work.  You put in extra hours to make up for the two you slept through.  On the way home you realize you’re too tired for dinner, so you pull into the nearest mini mart.  Dinner then becomes one of those delicious, greyish-red chili cheese weiners…you know the kind that have been rotating on metal racks in those plastic displays for HOURS.  And so-on and so-forth until January 1st of the NEXT year when you swear, THIS TIME I’M GONNA REALLY DO IT!

Well, my wise friend decided to tell resolutions to sod off and instead made Goals.  There’s something about the word goal that’s inspiring.

goal

(gōl)  Pronunciation Key
n.

  1. The purpose toward which an endeavor is directed; an objective. See Synonyms at intention.
  2. Sports
    1. The finish line of a race.
    2. A specified structure or zone into or over which players endeavor to advance a ball or puck.
    3. The score awarded for such an act.
    4. A noun or noun phrase referring to the place to which something moves.
    5. See patient.
  3. Linguistics
    1. A noun or noun phrase referring to the place to which something moves.
    2. See patient.

You can see it right there plain as day in the definition: THE FINISH LINE.  A Goal just sounds successful right from the start.  It means you’re applying the resolve that you’ve stored up and you’re making it finally apply to your end result.  You’re going to acheive great things.  Your hard work, determination, energy and great stamina will get you that World Cup title.  I don’t know about anyone else, but I know my love for the game of Soccer (Futbol!) has really made the word goal so much more important sounding.  Nobody scores a resolution!  That’s just ridiculous!  So there you have it.  New Years GOALS will be set this year.  Things that are actually attainable as opposed to pretty sounding ideas!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL(S)
….as they like to say on the spanish channel.

I’m still working on them, but they mostly involve better personal organizational skills.  It’s mostly about cleaning and organizing my room and art spaces.  I have also set a goal to create a working portfolio, because I pretty much have nothing.  I have made it a goal to  advertise my Etsy shoppes enough that I start making real money! I have made it a goal to finally pay off the ever present bill at my mechanics’ for my poor Guadalupe’s many repairs this past summer.  Poor car!
